Research interests
Research interests of Dr Merkulov include molecular biology, molecular genetics, virology, general and experimental immunology; molecular diagnosis of viral infections; expert evaluation of medicinal products; genetic engineering of antivirals; and regenerative medicine. Dr Merkulov has developed medicinal products to diagnose a range of highly dangerous and dangerous viral infections and to prevent influenza. In 2020, Vadim A. Merkulov took part in the development of methodological recommendations for pre-clinical and clinical studies of medicinal products to treat patients with coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Publication activity
Dr Merkulov has published more than 300 works, including guidelines, textbooks, and patents issued in the Russian Federation for inventions in the field of medical protection.
His RSCI Hirsch index is 15.

Dr Merkulov is a member of the Expert Council for Modernisation and Innovative Development of the Medical Science in the Field of Nanobiotechnology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Problem Commission No.32.06 for Clinical Pharmacology of the RAS.
